India head coach Ravi Shastri once again become the butt of all jokes on social media on Tuesday after he wished cricket team captain Virat Kohli on Twitter on his 31st birthday.
Shastri posted a picture of him with Kohli and wrote: “Happy birthday young man. Enjoy the break and have a kick ass year ahead. God bless. @imVkohli #HappyBirthdayVirat #KingKohli.”
Some fans took this opportunity to troll Shastri for using the wrong hashtag and urged him to tweet with #HappyBirthdayViratKohli. One user even tagged Sourav Ganguly while replying on Shastri’s tweet, urging the BCCI president to get a fitter coach for the Indian men’s cricket team.

Memes inspired by Shastri have been doing the rounds on social media ever since he was caught napping during the recent Ranchi Test match against South Africa.

Just before that incident fans again turned on Shastri when former captain Sourav Ganguly took over as the president of the BCCI last month. As the news of Ganguly emerging as the president elect broke out, fans on Twitter wondered if Ravi Shasti’s future as the head coach is secure.

Sourav Ganguly and Ravi Shastri had a public fallout in 2017 before the latter was appointed as the head coach of the senior national team. Before that the duo were involved in a war of words in 2016 after the former was overlooked for the job as the Ganguly-led CAC selected Anil Kumble for the high-profile role.
Virat Kohli meanwhile, is currently holidaying in Bhutan with his wife Anushka Sharma. The 31-year-old has been rested for the ongoing T20I series against Bangladesh but will return to lead the side for the two Tests starting November 14.
Wishes poured in for Kohli from all over the world including some of the biggest names in the English Premier League. The likes of Ryan Giggs, Marcos Rojo, Sadio Mane, Naby Keita and Riyad Mahrez featured in a special video from Premier League India’s official twitter handle for Kohli.
